In the midst of ongoing global turmoil, anxieties may be running high.

As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, new mental health problems have arisen, and existing problems have gotten worse.

Reasons include not being able to see people, physical restrictions and concerns about family and friends contracting the virus. For young people, boredom and loneliness are major issues which have contributed to worsening mental health. (Mind UK report, June 2020).

Despite all that’s going on around us, we have daily opportunities to acknowledge our blessings: our lives, families and shelter among them.

In positive psychology research, gratitude is strongly correlated with greater happiness. The benefits of gratitude spill over into our mental, social and physical health. Grateful people are happier people. What are you grateful for?
